Glass, water, charcoal. Various dimensions, 2018.
Inspired by Simone Weil and her wish to see a landscape as it is while she is not there, I wanted to see my drawings draw themselves. By grinding charcoal and pouring it in a water filled box, drawing appears in many ways. The pulverized charcoal’s slow crossing of water becomes a cloud of dust, a breath of charcoal. On the surface lies a skin of charcoal, drawing the walls of the glass box as the water evaporates.
